KATCHEMID - cast polyamid-6



The modified type of polyamide-6 produced by anionic polymerization. The new catalytic system guarantees high toughness, resistance against low temperature, practically without internal stress.

Beside the basic type of material we produce also special kinds of KATCHEMID:

- antiabrasive (KATCHEMID-N),
- graphite filled for improving the sliding properties,
- oil filled for hydrophobic modification,
- or liquid resin filled for higher impact value.

Colour can be natural or black.
Comfortable working and cutting.

Products from KATCHEMID:
Bars/rods length to 1000 mm (tolerance ±50 mm), diameter: 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45,50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and 110 mm (tolerance +5 mm).
Bars and blocks with greater diameter up to 350 mm according to the requests of consumers with length up to 450 mm.
Plates: admeasurements c.  500x 1000 mm and thickness:  10, 15, 20, 25, 35, 40, 50, 60 and 70 mm (tolerance + 3 mm).
Polyamide railway fishplates     (one insulated rail joint needs two pieces of the fishplates and the insulating separator) (types are stated in our price list).

KATCHEMID-N and other special kinds of PA-6

KATCHEMID - N (RATAMID, NUKLAMID, JANTARID, KATCHEMID-S)

  1. new constructional materials on PA-6 basis with high  notch toughness
  2. it is particularly suitable for lining resistant against abrasion and mechanical stress, and for various structural elements.
  3. it has been approved for the purposes of ballistic protection and for army and civil safety purposes.

The research of NUKLAMID and RATAMID utilization proceeded with cofinancing from national budget through the Department of Trade and Industry.


BASIC MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS:
KATCHEMID-N matrix shows markedly decreased part of crystalline phase. Therefore this material even unmodified has high toughness (45 kJ/m2, Charpy) (nearly tenfold higher in comparison with classical polyamide material), while keeping its relatively high  E-modulus, i.e.  strength of the material and tensile strength  > 60 Mpa.  Hardness of  the   material
(> 72 °Sh, Shore) that can be easily modified, high flash point 460 °C, high melting point around 210 °C. Therefore there is a possibility of a short-time use of the material within the range of temperatures 140 -180 °C and a long-time use up to 140 °C.  

We use for production of this material the  original Katchem´s catalytic system.

RATAMID

As a part of a project supported from national budget through MPO FI-IM/170
there was studied also a possibility of using RATAMID material for shaftless
spiral conveyors  - see their offer on web sites of RATAJ, a.s. www.rataj.cz

B ) Materials with extreme radiation resistance – „NUKLAMID“

Radiation index RI: (defined as log 10 of radiation dose in Gy, at which evaluation criterion is reached): 4,7-5,0
Material service life:  34 years (at ambient temperature of 20°C, dose rate of 4 Gy/h, activation energy of thermal decomposition 1,24 eV and criterion of 50% absolute ductility).
NUKLAMID is delivered in sizes corresponding to common casting moulds. Plates of standard dimensions of 930 x 550 mm are available. Plate thicknesses are 10,12,15, 20, and 30 mm with a practical tolerance of 2 mm.

Polyamide powders

Katchem spol. s r. o. participated in developing and producing technology for polyamide powders at the company Chemopharma, a.s.. As part of this cooperation, different types of polyamide powders were developed: MICROPAN (PA-6), MICROFINE (copolyamide 6/12), and MICROSKEIN (PA-12). The use of polyamide powders is not only convenient in the manufacture of cosmetics but is also useful in a number of other areas (dyes, filling masses, foodstuffs industry, etc.).

Properties         
Spherical particles of relatively narrow distribution: 10% of the < than 10 micron, and 95% < than 35 micron. Specific surface 2-3 m2/ g. Melting point of the powder lie in narrow limit 205 - 210°C. An apparent density of the powder is 28 - 30 grams/100 cm3 and density of the particles about 1.16 grams/cm3 at ambient temperature.

Polyamide powder is inert to most substances. There are a few chemical compounds capable of attacking polyamide powder. These include, for example, some concentrated acids, alkalis and phenols. Polyamide powder is sufficiently resistant to alkalis and acids when these substances are present at normal cosmetic use levels. In presence of oils, solvents, lubricants, fatty acid esters, etc., it neither swells nor dissolves. These properties make polyamide powder compatible in virtually all types of cosmetic products, even nail lacquers.

 Polyamide powder has the ability to absorb a certain percentage of water into its structure, depending on the moisture content of its environment. Because of the unique shape, particles do not agglomerate, even when the percentage of water being absorbed is at its maximum. In an environment having a relative humidity of 50%, Polyamide powder absorb approximately 2.5% water. In on aqueous dispersion, polyamide powder absorbs up to 15% water by weight. This water uptake ability can contribute to a pleasant feeling when the cosmetic product is in contact with the human skin.

  3. non-thixotropic dulling agent for inks and paints
  4. non-abrasive powders for use in blast chambers

  6. cosmetic applications 
  7. readily soluble starting material for preparation of nanofibres
  8. stationary phase for chromatography
  9. in combination with MICROFIN PAP suitable for dip-coating

b) modified with SiO2(kieselguhr, amophous SiO2), barite, kaolin, bentonite, graphite.

  1. absorption of UV radiation in protective layers
  2. absorption of  polyphenols in beer and wine stabilization by filtration
  3. modified low abrasive agents
  4. combined materials for shielding ionising radiation
  5. combined materials for electrically conductive melt adhesives
