Decaborane is in comparison with other boranes the only relatively stable compound on air, which can be safely stock and transported. Decaborane is the most sought product of borane chemistry and practically all most important borane chemistry compounds (preparation of other boranes, carboranes and their derivatives) can be easily prepared from it.

Katchem Ltd. successfully resolved the project of the Czech Department of Trade and Industry in IMPULS programme named “Implementation of decaborane production in the Czech Republic” in 2006. This project, which was realized with the financial support from the Czech national budget through the Czech Department of Trade and Industry, helped us to find the new method for decaborane preparation

This project was realized with the financial support from the Czech national budget through the Czech Department of Trade and Industry and helped us to develop the new preparation method for octadecaborane.

Octadecaborane is requested compound as B-doping agent for microchips production and other semiconductive electronic materials of the new generation. This product is also a useful compound for medicine purposes (neutron capture therapy - BNCT). Octadecaborane can be used also as a modified source of boron in the area of materials chemistry.
